![]() As the game opens, your gang waits out a storm in a concrete shelter, where you can instigate a little play fighting or mutual sniffing and smearing. The slender ginger tabby is one of a small feline colony living in a disused industrial district long since reclaimed by nature. The feel of your moggy is crucial here, and it’s instantly evident how much observational work has gone into her animation. JOJO’S BIZARRE ADVENTURE: ALL-STAR BATTLE Stray simply makes such activities more natural, giving us the perfect form for the job. Particularly in platform-puzzlers like this, our first inclination is to explore, looking for unorthodox routes up the sides of buildings, say, or jumping on furniture and seeing which objects we can manipulate. The early novelty of playing as a cat in Stray soon gives way to a striking realisation-we often behave like cats in games anyway. The robotic denizens of this cyberpunk world generally talk to you like they would anybody else, and the only way it’s ever really relevant to the story or the action is because you can fit into tight spaces they can’t. The simplicity of that concept works wonderfully, especially because the fact that you are a cat doesn’t actually matter all that much to the artificial people you interact with or the things you are asked to do. Overall, I would definitely recommend the game, especially if you like a little challenge, getting lost in details and cats, of course. To be clear: you’re not a magic cat, not a mutated sci-fi cat, not some kind of sentient super cat – just a normal, cute cat, albeit one that displays the sort of intelligent awareness we all like to pretend our own cats do when we aren’t looking. From an achievement hunting point, achievements were really enjoyable to do, I've done a dozen of 100% games and sometimes achievements feel like a chore, which is not the case here (except for the Can't Cat-ch Me achievement, that one is a disaster). The story was captivating, sometimes moving and really enjoyable, the tasks made sense and the whole plot carried through with many funny interactions and Easter eggs. The cyberpunk aspect comes out flawlessly too, it captures such a realistic image of a potential future, after the vanishing of human kind, everything ruled by robots. It is incredible how immersive the game is, sometimes I found myself just exploring the beautiful neon sign-ridden cities for half an hour, just jumping on stuff, breaking pots and nuzzling up to random robots. Honestly, I didn't really know what "Atmospheric" meant in terms of game categories, but having played this game, I know now. Long: This game is an absolute masterpiece. Basically the only way I could succeed is by running in zig-zags side to side, and it took me around 50 tries. It was an absolute nightmare to do, it is very hard because of the narrow roads in some areas. ![]() The Can't Cat-ch Me achievement is the only one that I disliked, but this one I disliked A LOT.I couldn't manage to get the achievement, I only got it when I speedran the game for the under 2 hour achievement. I have a suspicion that the "Scratch in every chapter" achievement only works linearly, meaning that if you miss one chapter, then the next chapters don't count unless you complete the first missed chapter.Dialogues are non skipable, which can get somewhat annoying when achievement hunting or speedrunning. This may be annoying when achievement hunting. If you want to go back to a chapter, you must restart it from the beginning, there is no way to leave a chapter in half and return to where you left off.The world is quite open in many of the chapters, which makes it perfect for people who like to explore around. There are many good puns and funny details which elevate the overall experience.Controls are flawless when using a controller.Hidden badges and memories are REALLY well hidden, it was a lot of fun exploring and searching for them. The puzzles are pretty clever, and their ratio is well balanced, there aren't too many, but the ones there are are quite fun.The majority of the achievements are actually FUN to do, unlike many recent games, where they feel more like a chore. The story is really well thought-out, with an interesting plot without unnecessary fillers. ![]() Random advice: If you find a place where you can climb onto stuff, or interact with things, then you should get those cogwheels turning in your head, because chances are there's something to be done there, a memory to be collected or a badge hidden somewhere. It is well worth its price, I definitely recommend the game. ![]() Short: Stray is an atmospheric cyberpunk adventure game, with adorable cats, captivating puzzles, incredible story, many fun achievements and an unforgettable experience.
